All okay with Joe Biden? A chair mix-up at D-day anniversary sparks health speculations
In the video, Biden could be seen squatting down, leading Jill Biden to cover her mouth and murmur something to him.
Donald Trump Jr. also tweeted the video with the caption saying, “Is there ever a time when Americans realize just how much of an embarrassment this is on a world stage? Does this kind of incompetence and weakness encourage our enemies to act the way they’ve been acting? Of course it does!”
Social media users speculated that the First Lady was instructing the President not to sit down.
Another video from the event captured Jill Biden escorting the President away from the stage while Macron stayed behind to greet the veterans.
The clip, first shared by the Republican National Committee Research, has reignited discussions about Biden’s health.
“Totally normal behavior from a President. What exactly is he trying to do here?” wrote Robby Starbuck. “Shortly after this he got whisked off the stage by Jill while President Macron from France went to shake the hands of all the WWII Veterans in attendance.”
Some internet users argued that the video was edited. They shared a longer version which shows others on stage also sitting down on chairs.
This isn’t the first time President Biden has appeared confused in public.
In November last year, during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in California, he looked confused while sharing a stage with other leaders for a group photo.
Biden was seen rubbing his nose and looking around before taking his position for the picture, which also stirred debates over his health at that time.
The video has once again put the spotlight on President Biden’s public appearances and health, prompting diverse reactions from viewers online.
