Amritpal Singh Live News Updates: Jailed Khalistani separatist and winner of the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat, Amritpal Singh’s lawyer, Rajdev Singh Khalsa, stated that Singh’s efforts were focused on eradicating drug abuse in Punjab. Khalsa detailed the legal strategy moving forward, highlighting the push for Singh’s bail. He expressed confidence that both the BJP and AAP governments would be compelled to grant relief due to public support.

“The strategy now is to secure bail. The government will have no choice but to provide relief, as the public support leaves them no alternative. Both the BJP and AAP governments will be compelled to act. Amritpal Singh was dedicated to making Punjab drug-free. People have acknowledged that his arrest was illegal and immoral,” Khalsa stated.

Criticizing the circumstances of Singh’s arrest orchestrated by the Bhagwant Mann government, Khalsa described it as dishonest and argued that the claims of law and order issues and Hindu-Sikh tensions were unfounded.

Amritpal Singh’s wife and lawyer visited Dibrugarh Jail on Wednesday to meet him following his victory in the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat, where he secured a significant lead with 404,430 votes.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Singh’s closest competitor was Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira, who garnered 207,310 votes.

Amritpal Singh was arrested by Punjab police in April last year, weeks after he evaded capture, leading to the invocation of the stringent National Security Act against him.
