Halsey Shares Lupus and Rare Lymphoproliferative Disorder Diagnoses
Halsey is opening up about her health journey.
One day after the singer (real name Ashley Frangipane) dropped her new song “The End,” the first single off her upcoming album of the same name, and alluded to recent health struggles, she shared more insight into her battle and thanked fans for their support.
“I realize everyone is catching up with news I’ve held in for a very long time, and I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share,” Halsey wrote in a June 5 Instagram post. “You’ve all been so kind so I want to share a bit more. In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission.”
Lupus SLE is an autoimmune disease that often presents itself in flare ups, and can affect all parts of the body, causing the immune system to attack healthy tissue, according to the National Institutes of Health. The organization also states that T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder relates to bone marrow cell production, and is rare, but occurs in immunocompromised individuals.
