Flash flood emergency & river rising
NWS issued a flash flood emergency alert telling people to avoid driving through flood waters as the current could carry away vehicles. The Rio Ruidoso River, which runs through the village, rose 20 feet in just 30 minutes during the flood, as per the Hindustan Times report.
A map released by NWS showed the areas placed under flash flood emergency. Multiple videos showed the rapid water rise and destruction in the village. It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt or missing, as per the reports.
