Independents are not just about swing states. According to the polls, independent voters are supporting Harris in two predominantly Republican states where Trump has won the past two elections. In Florida and Texas, Trump leads by +2 and +9 points, respectively. However, when examining independent voters alone, the numbers shift in favour of Harris winning the presidency, with the Democratic nominee in Florida holding a sizable +10-point advantage.

This poll shows that Harris leads among the independents but with a small margin compared to the other states. The economic condition of Pennsylvania is considered the most important issue that concerns the voters; this issue is seen as the most important one by 58% of them. Arizona leads overall and among independent voters, with 27 % believing the economy is the most crucial issue. In Florida, independents are slightly more likely to pinpoint abortion as the most important issue (11% compared to 10%). Among independent and statewide voters, the most pressing problem is housing affordability. With Trump ahead by just +2 points, an independent swing to the left may be troublesome news for Harris’s campaign.
